Boynton Canyon breaks the usual Sedona pattern — instead of a summit view, it ends at an enclosed box-canyon amphitheater with 500-foot walls that feels cooler and quieter than the trailhead. The mileage hikes longer than it reads thanks to soft, sandy stretches. Two objectives share one trailhead: the box canyon at the far end and the Kachina Woman vortex spur near the start, so plan to catch the spur on your way out. The canyon holds sensitive Sinagua archaeological sites and cryptobiotic soil — stay on-trail and leave everything as you find it.
